GAME NOTES: The Global Sports Classic continues tonight as the UNLV Rebels entertain the California Golden Bears at the Thomas & Mack Center. California is hitting the road for the very first time this season after opening with four straight wins at home. On Monday night, the team took care of North Carolina A&T rather easily with an 82-47 decision. Each of the team's triumphs have come by double digits, the closest being a 68-56 victory versus Pacific in the opener. As for the Rebels, they too are off to a perfect start with five wins in as many opportunities. After posting four consecutive home wins, UNLV hit the road for the first time on Monday and earned an 80-67 decision over UTEP in the process. As far as the all-time series between these two teams is concerned, UNLV has won all three of previous meetings, including a narrow 73-72 decision in Berkeley in 2004.

Of the 14 players that saw action for the Golden Bears on Monday, all but two managed to score in the lopsided win over North Carolina A&T. Shooting 4-of-5 behind the three-point line, Jerome Randle finished with a team-best 20 points, followed by reserve Omondi Amoke with his 11 points in 18 minutes. Patrick Christopher chipped in 10 points for a squad that knocked down 58.3 percent from three-point range, compared to just 11.8 percent for the visitors. Putting up just over 80 ppg so far this season, Cal is led by Randle and his 19.8 ppg, the sharpshooter knocking down everything in sight. Randle is not only shooting 66.7 percent from the field, he has made all but two of his 21 free-throw attempts and is an incredible 12-of-17 beyond the arc at the moment. The team as a whole is converting 58.8 percent from three-point range, which is actually better than their 54.4 percent from the floor overall.

Wink Adams survived just 1-of-7 shooting behind the three-point line to come up with his team-best 20 points in the win over the UTEP Miners earlier this week at the Don Haskins Center. Adams, who ended up shooting 6-of-13 from the floor overall, added six rebounds, six assists and five steals. Tre'Von Willis contributed 17 points, Rene Rougeau 11 and eight boards, followed by Oscar Bellfield with 10 points off the bench. For a team that is producing 75.2 ppg, the fact that Adams (16.2 ppg) is the only double-digit scorer means that head coach Lon Kruger is managing his roster extremely well. Although Adams is shooting just 39.7 percent from the floor, he's making sure he has his hands in all facets of the game with 5.2 rpg, 3.8 apg and 2.0 spg. Defensively the squad is limiting foes to just 29.5 percent shooting behind the three-point line and has benefited from them converting a meager 59.4 percent at the charity stripe.

Both teams have played opponents that are somewhat questionable to this point, but being at home and having Adams doing everything possible will probably get the Rebels the win tonight.
