San Jose State finally got on the board with 22 seconds remaining in the first half, as Jared Strubeck nailed a 44-yard field goal.

Early in the third quarter, Nevada got a five-yard touchdown run from Courtney Randall, pushing the lead to 24-3.

Less than one minute later, San Jose State cut its deficit to 24-10 on an 11- yard touchdown pass from Reed to David Richmond.

Not to be outdone, Kaepernick threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to Marko Mitchell to make the score 31-10.

Once again, the Spartans answered back in less than one minute, as Reed and Richmond hooked up for another touchdown, this time from 10 yards out. With one quarter remaining, Nevada led 31-17.
