Nutritious Skillet?
Did your mother or grandmother ever tell you cooking in an iron skillet improves the iron content of your food? Well believe it or not, she was right! Before there were aluminum and stainless steal cookware, people's diets were unknowingly supplemented with iron from their iron pots and pans. Simmer foods in liquids that contain acid such as tomato juice, citrus juice and vinegar to help dissolve small amounts of iron from the pot into the cooking liquids.
