Editorial: 100 Days Until DTV!

November 7, 2008

This Monday is the date that marks 100 days until we turn off our analog TV signal. The DTV switch takes place just before Midnight on February 17th. You’d have to have been living under a rock this last year to not have seen all the TV spots KSBW has aired alerting viewers to this impending switch, but our research shows that there are still some people out there who have not taken the steps to get ready for DTV.

If you get KSBW from a satellite service or cable, you won’t need to do anything, but if you watch using an outdoor antenna or one of your TVs at home has rabbit ears to pick us up over-the-air, you have to get a converter box.

You can get a box like this at most electronics stores. Here on the back you simply attach your antenna lead on this coax connection, and then run the other coax cable from here to your TV’s normal antenna connection point. It’s that simple. The sooner you take action, the sooner you’ll get to enjoy the crisper pictures on KSBW-DT. Our digital station has been broadcasting since November 2003. And by taking action now, you’ll know if you have to adjust your antenna or perhaps consider a new antenna for the best digital reception.

For more information on the DTV switch, you can go to a special section on our website, KSBW.com, or you can call toll-free 1- 888-DTV-2009.

You have just 100 days before regular TV is gone! Please; make plans to get your converter box hooked up now.
