Counties Get Money For Migrant Education
Santa Cruz, Monterey Counties Awarded More Than $800K

SALINAS, Calif. -- Two Central Coast counties will receive more than $800,000 in federal funding for literacy grants to help migrant families.Santa Cruz and Monterey counties were among 22 counties in California awarded funds to help raise literacy among the children of migrant families.The Migrant Education Even Start grants are a part of the No Child Left Behind Act and are designed to provide educational assistance for migrant children between 3 and 7 years old.
Santa Cruz County was awarded $303,165 for the Pajaro Valley Unified School District. Monterey County was awarded $530,289 for the Monterey County Office of Education.
