MONTEREY, Calif. -- Local celebrities got the red-carpet treatment Sunday night for the premiere of a hometown project. The romantic comedy "Where's Marty," which was filmed entirely in Monterey County, features an all-local cast. The film is about two New Yorkers who meet while vacationing in Monterey and fall in love -- with the help of an angel named Marty.
The Monterey County Film Commission made the movie to raise money for a scholarship fund for aspiring filmmakers. In order to star in the film, cast members had to contribute to the fund."It gave me the opportunity to wear my wedding dress again, which my husband's grandmother made," said Laura Zurlinden, who paid to play the role of a bride in the film. "It meant a lot to us."The movie, which was written and directed by Nola Rocco, will be used throughout the country as a promotional film to spread the word about Monterey County.
