Nearly one in five people said in a recent survey that their employers allow pets in the workplace.

The survey was conducted by the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association, which sponsors Take Your Dog To Work Day on June 23.

According to the survey, 55 million people believe having pets in the workplace leads to a more creative environment, and almost as many say pets decrease absenteeism and help coworkers get along.

It indicated that 46 million people who bring their pets to the workplace work longer hours.
