New Diabetes Center Opening In Salinas

SALINAS, Calif. -- The Diabetes Education Center is opening at Natividad Medical Center in Salinas.The facility is on the first floor of the Barnet J. Segal Outpatient Services Building at 1441 Constitution Blvd.The hospital is inviting the community to an open house Nov. 9th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Attendees will have an opportunity to tour the classroom and educational displays. Representatives from leading diabetes technology companies will be demonstrating the latest products for diabetes care.Nurse Bertha Ramirez will be offering free body fat analysis.In celebration of World Diabetes Day on Nov. 14, the center will be offering free group classes on diabetes management, taught by registered nurse and certified diabetes educator Chesney Hoagland-Fuchs.Classes will be held on Nov. 14 in the center. Participants in both classes will receive a free Ascencia pedometer.The schedule is as follows:
- 2 p.m. Spanish: Informese Sobre Su Actividad Fisica
- 4 p.m. English: Know Your Healthy Steps
