Marlins Claim LHP Meyer From A's

(Sports Network) - The Florida Marlins claimed left-handed pitcher Dan Meyer off waivers from the Oakland Athletics on Monday.

A first-round pick (34th overall) of the Atlanta Braves in 2002, the James Madison product went 0-4 with a 7.48 earned run average in 11 games for Oakland last season, with four starts. He went 10-5 with a 4:48 ERA in 22 games -- 20 starts -- for Triple-A Sacramento in 2008.

Meyer has played parts of three seasons in the majors with Atlanta (2004) and Oakland (2007-08), compiling an 0-6 record with a 7.63 ERA in 19 games, with seven starts.
