The Santa Cruz County Fair is going green.

Officials plan to install solar panels this summer to help power the fair.

The solar panels were delivered to the fairgrounds this week.

The project is part of a statewide rollout that will see three-fourths of California's county fairs receive solar panels by the year 2011.

The panels are expected to generate 125 kilowatts of electricity, enough to power 100 homes.

Much of the cost is being offset by energy grants from Pacific Gas and Electric.
