CARMEL VALLEY, Calif. -- The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection is set to burn 250 acres of brush and oak woodland at the University of California at Berkeley's Hasting Reserve in the Carmel Valley.Officials said Wednesday's burning will not only lower fire danger but will help enhance native wild and plant life.
The area affected by the controlled burns is about 25 miles inland from Carmel Valley Road.
