The Boulder Creek man arrested for having dozens of sick dogs on his property will stand trial for abusing animals and remained in jail on Tuesday.

Superior court judge William Kelsay ordered that Robert Brunette would stand trial for two felony and eight misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty.

Kelsay also ordered that Brunette be released from jail under his own recognizance. Brunette has refused to sign the paperwork regarding his release.

Brunette will remain in jail until he signs the release papers or until he is scheduled to appear back in court on Aug. 20.
