Asbestos Worries Close Part Of Courthouse

Nobody Exposed, Officials Say

The north wing of the Monterey County Courthouse in Salinas was closed Wednesday after monitors in construction areas showed high asbestos levels.

Nobody was exposed to any of the asbestos and officials said there was no danger to workers.

The monitors have been in place during construction and renovation of the courtroom facilities.

There was no word on when the facilities will reopen.
