Dan Green

Dan Green is a favorite of Central Coast television viewers. He is anchor of the number-one rated Action News 8 broadcasts at five, six and eleven, and he also co-anchors Action News 8 at 10pm on KSBW WeatherPlus.

Best known for his coverage of breaking news, specialty reporting and his humor, Dan has been honored countless times in his twelve years at KSBW-TV 8. He has been chosen as best male anchor each year in local viewer polls and honored with the highly-coveted Edward R. Murrow Award from the Radio and Television News Directors Association for his popular “Animal Stories” feature.

A 28-year broadcast veteran, Dan has extensive experience in both television and radio. In radio he received countless wire service awards for breaking news coverage and was a member of the Peabody Award winning news team at KCBS-AM. He began his television career with KGO-TV in San Francisco by covering the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake.

Following his reporting in San Francisco he worked as a field producer for the ABC network. He later was named anchor and news director at KMIZ-TV in Columbia, Missouri, where he was honored three times with the Missouri Broadcaster’s Association award for breaking news coverage.

In 1992, Dan returned to California, and created the Ventura County News Network serving as both news director and main anchor. There he received an Edward R. Murrow Award for documentary television, an Emmy nomination for documentaries, and was named “Outstanding Young Man of the Year” in 1993.

Dan resides in Salinas with his wife and their two children, along with their Great Dane, Max.
