MARINA, Calif. -- A new athletic director was named Tuesday for California State University, Monterey Bay.

Vince Otoupal, a San Jose State University athletics executive and former Stanford University linebacker, was selected by CSUMB to head its athletics department.

Otoupal is scheduled to begin working on Oct. 30.

"I am honored to join the CSU Monterey Bay family as the director of athletics," Otoupal said in a statement released Tuesday. "Winning is central to my core philosophy of athletics, both in the classroom and in the venues of athletic competition."

Stephanie Duke, CSUMB's associate athletic director, has served as interim athletic director during the search for a replacement and will return to her position.
